The Kenya Medical Women Association (KMWA) is a membership organization for female doctors and dentists in Kenya. It is non-governmental organization registered with the Kenya NGO Board in 1983.
Our mission is to champion for the improved health and dignity of society, particularly vulnerable groups through cohesive, professional membership committed to our core values of excellence, integrity and compassion.We work to uncover, connect, pioneer and advance health innovations, research and policies that address health inequalities and contribute to socio-economic development. We inspire and mentor young women to undertake and advance in health leadership at national and global arena.

KMWA is looking for an organized, highly motivated and results oriented individual to joina dynamic team and help uplift the health status of women, adolescents, children and vulnerable groups in Kenya.

The CEO will have both internal and external responsibilities, ranging from fundraising, strategic management (implementing strategy and reviewing objectives) to overseeing operations (budgeting, planning, reporting) and to fostering key stakeholder relationships (local and global). In this role, the candidate will work closely with the Council in order to lead the Secretariat and manage a growing team delivering on pioneering projects,advocacy and research, campaigns and other initiatives in Kenya, Africa and internationally as a member of MWIA. Importantly, the successful candidate will have the personal skills, sensitivity, and confidence to tap into the talent each member brings to KMWA.

1.    Strategic and Operational Management and Planning
Work in consultation with the Council and the Technical Conveners or project leads, to contribute to the development and implementation of the KMWA’s strategic goals and objectives and review or establish new processes and approaches to achieve them. Identify opportunities for KMWA to maximize synergies across the key initiatives.

2.    Organizational Development and Reporting
Review and strengthen KMWA’s internal systems and procedures. Compile and submit reports for the Council, Committees/Technical Working Groups and other stakeholders, showing progress against annual objectives and Operational Plan. Develop monitoring and evaluation metrics for the Association to track key impact measurements. Oversight of KMWA’s key initiatives both at national and branch level, ensuring their sustainability and that each meets the established objectives.

3.    Resource Mobilization/Financial Management / HR Management
Coordinate annual operational plan and budget in line with each initiative’s objectives. Oversee and manage costs against approved budget. Undertake resource mobilization and assist in coordinating grant proposals for strategic initiatives in line with KMWA’s objectives. Oversee Human Resources processes and liaise with Project leads/Conveners and  advise the Council.

4.    Partnerships/Relationship Management
Coordinate relationships at Secretariat – national and branches and increase members motivation and involvement. Broaden partnerships with like minded organizations, professional associations, key sectors, multilateral and bilateral agencies, private sector partners and women’s’ movement from a Customer Relations Management (CRM) perspective. Assist in maintaining and building the KMWA’s database of members, partners and stakeholders – including academia, private sector, government and civil society.

5.    Advocacy and Representation
Assist in strategic advocacy and represent KMWA effectively in meetings, forums and participate in platforms for influencing policies and related health issues. Assist and support campaigns in line with KMWA’s values and objectives and bring visibility to critical women’s health issues and gender concerns affecting women, girls and vulnerable groups. Ensure that KMWA is represented and actively participate in national and international arena as a renowned global leader in health.

•    University degree in commerce, medicine, project management or any other relevant discipline. A masters degree in a relevant discipline is an added advantage; MPH is highly desirable;
•    At least 5 years of relevant working experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role managing a diverse team or in a similar organization;

A person shall be qualified for appointment as a Chief Executive Officer if such person:-
•    Has high moral character and proven integrity (Chapter Six of the Kenya Constitution) and has knowledge and experience in matters relating to health;
•    Has excellent numerical skills, computer literacy and experience in organizational financial management;
•    Has ability to provide leadership to a professional team and to promote team spirit at work;
•    Has expertise to broker interpersonal communication within the Association, its network and members.

The annual cost of employment for 2016, including benefits, is negotiable between Ksh. 1,800,000 and 2,640,000.
